Our November outreach emphasis is Open Arms Ministries. We are a partner congregation in Open Arms, a diverse faith-based coalition that provides crisis assistance and tools for life management to lessen the suffering of those who are living in poverty. In collaboration with other ministries and organizations in our area, Open Arms Ministries offers hope and encouragement to those whom we serve.

Wayne County Foundation Challenge Grant

Open Arms is excited to be participating in this year’s Wayne County Foundation Challenge Grant. The opportunity to have your contribution matched dollar-for-dollar is exceptional. It allows us to serve more clients and continue making a difference in the lives of those in our community who are the most vulnerable.

In order to be matched, checks must be dated between November 9th and November 20, 2015 and must be received by November 24th. You may also contribute online starting November 9, 2015. OAM is a 501c.3 organization and all gifts are tax deductible.

Donations can be mailed to:

Open Arms Ministries
PO Box 1012
Richmond, IN 47375-1012

To help support our participation in the challenge grant, Open Arms has two special programs going on this month:

Project 911

Open Arms is asking for your help to support area folk for the coming year through our new campaign: Project 911. We are asking supporters to donate $9 a month to support 1 disadvantaged person or family for 1 year. This comes to a total of $108. Your donation will go toward the services such as: supply bags for homeless persons; Laundry Day; assistance with utility bills; and food cards for homeless teens.

Project 911 donations can be sent in monthly or annually. Please consider if you might be able to lend your support to our neighbors in need. Any donations received between November 9 and 20 will be matched by the Wayne County Foundation.

SOS (Soup on Saturday)!

Saturday, November 14th, from 11am-2pm

It’s time for some fun, food, and fellowship to support the continuing services of Open Arms Ministries.

Join us for a delicious soup luncheon with members of OAM partner congregations and neighbors around Richmond.  Together we’ll be raising money for and celebrating the accomplishment of Open Arms.

For $10 you can enjoy your choice of soup, a chunk of bread, and a slice of pie or piece of cake. As added attractions, we have invited area potters and painters, professional and amateur, to submit bowls which we will offer for sale at a silent auction during the luncheon (bidding closes at 12:30).

There will also be a Global Gifts pop-up store selling handcrafted items and fair trade goods from around the world (SERRV, 10,000 Villages, etc.).

Additional donations above and beyond the $10 lunch cost will be matched by the Wayne County Foundation.

New Board Representative Needed

With Pastor Matt’s upcoming departure our church is seeking a new person to represent us on the Open Arms Ministries board. As a partner organization in OAM we help shape and steer this collaborative ministry by providing leadership through their board. If you have interest in potentially being our church’s representative please contact Pastor Matt.
