We get it - college is a time of exploration, growing, and changing, learning who you are and who you want to be. This is true not only in classroom and academic settings, but also on a spiritual level. Maybe you're looking for deeper meaning for your life. Maybe you need the support of a community made up of people of all ages, life experiences, and backgrounds. Maybe you just need to get off campus to connect with the world outside of the college bubble. For all these reasons and more, we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to our faith community.
Part of the dynamic and exciting culture of the Richmond Church of the Brethren includes welcoming Earlham College students as part of our community. Over the years we have had many students find our congregation to be a safe place to ask questions, grow spiritually, and explore their own calling to follow the ways and teachings of Jesus.
Our church is part of a diverse and dynamic Christian peace-church tradition, with roots in radical anabaptism and pietism. We take the Bible seriously, but not literally, and practice gathering around scripture as a community to connect its stories with our own lived experiences of God. We're a progressive, inclusive congregation that invites all people to participate in whatever ways you're comfortable. We also work together with other local faith communities in ecumenical and interfaith settings. If this sounds like the type of faith community where you might enjoy worshiping, growing, and being nourished by the Spirit, I hope you'll visit us sometime. You can also connect with us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/richmondcob.
We're just a few blocks from campus, so it's an easy walk or bike ride when the weather is nice. If you don't have transportation and would like a ride , look for someone waiting outside the Landrum Boling Center (north door) each Sunday while classes are in session at 9:50 a.m. to catch a ride to/from worship. We have an informal fellowship time from 10-10:30, followed by worship from 10:30 'till about 11:45. If you're interested in attending any of our other events and need a lift, or if you'd like to find out more about our church, just contact us and we'll be glad to help out!
