Recognizing the beginning of the season of Lent by gathering for worship andprayer on Ash Wednesday has been a part of Christian ritual since the 6th century. On Wednesday February 17th at 6:15pm Pastor Matt will lead a simple time of reflection, repentance, and the traditional imposition of ashes for anyone who is interested.

The worship team will meet after worship on Sunday, Feb. 28th to plan for the end of Lent and Easter. We'll have a room reserved at 5th St. Bagels, where we'll enjoy lunch together then get down to business!

The Love Feast is a longstanding practice of embodied worship and is open to anyone who would like to participate. At 6pm on Thursday, April 1st, we will gather for prayer and singing, washing one another's feet, and sharing in a fellowship meal that concludes with the bread and cup of communion. Come be a part of this meaningful remembrance of Jesus' last meal with his disciples.

Tenebrae is a somber and prayerful worship gathering remembering the events that took place on Good Friday, culminating in the crucifixion of Christ. At 8:30pm on Good Friday (April 2nd) we will gather in the dim light of the evening to sing, contemplate, and pray in the shadow of the cross, recounting the dark path to the crucifixion. At the end of our time together we will depart in silence into the darkness of the night. All are welcome.

Come worship together in a combined service with the West Richmond Friends meeting as we greet the Risen Son Easter Sunday morning, April 4th. We will gather at the West Richmond Friends meetinghouse (609 W. Main St.) for worship at 7am. Afterward we will share in a pot-luck breakfast starting at about 8.

It's time to celebrate another year of making beautiful music together! All choir members and families are invited to gather at Nancy's house for an end of the choir-season picnic. As part of “Faith and Food” month we are sponsoring a panel discussion on faith and food Wednesday June 23rd at 7pm. We will begin with a pot-luck meal, followed by each of our four panelists sharing about their own diverse personal connections between faith and food.

Richmond Church of the Brethren welcomes Bethany, ESR, and Earlham College students back for the fall semester! To celebrate the start of the new semester, we are hosting, in good Church of the Brethren fashion, an ice cream social and game night in the church fellowship hall Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 7pm. Ice cream, including delicious vegan options, and sundae toppings will be available along with a variety of fun board and card games. Bethany, ESR, and Earlham students as well as all other members and friends of our congregation are invited to attend.

Every year on September 21st the World Council of Churches encourages people of faith around the world to pause and pray that peace might prevail in our broken, war-torn world. On Tuesday, Sept. 21st there will be an ecumenical Peace Vigil on the front lawn of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in downtown Richmond.
