Many folks in our congregation are familiar with (or involved in) the work of New Community Project (NCP), a group with Church of the Brethren roots seeking to make our world a better place for everyone through community building, education, and environmental awareness.
NCP is encouraging folks to remember the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference that's going on this week. There is a new Email the President page on their website where you can tell President Obama what you are doing or plan to do to turn down the heat on the planet. It provides an email form, sample letter and suggested actions, along with the respective carbon savings of each one. This is a critical moment for setting a better course for God’s earth, and the president needs to know that many of us are willing to do what it takes to protect both the creation and our neighbors in poorer parts of the world who are suffering first and worst as the climate changes.
Also, don't forget about NCP's 2010 Learning Tours, which are reasonably priced and promise eye-opening experiences of our world and its people. Destinations include Burma, El Salvador, Guatemala, the Amazon, Alaska, and more!
