Months in the making, the new Richmond Church of the Brethren web site is now online!
We hope this site becomes a useful tool for us as we continue to grow as a community. Whether you're a first time visitor who has just stumbled across our site or already a member of the church you'll find lots of information and opportunities for interaction here.
For those who want a little guidance in learning how to use the new site, here's a short walk-through of the major features:
This is where it all starts. The home page displays a short list of some of the newest content that's been posted on the site. Sometimes there may be special announcements or messages that appearat the top of this list. If you want more information you can click on the titles of any of the new events, conversations, and newsletters on this always up-to-date list.
On your left you'll find our site's main navigation links, along with a list of upcoming events and the ability to sign up for our newsletter. You can click on any of the main links or the names of upcoming events to find out more.
In addition to the upcoming events list on the side of every page, this is the best way to discover what's going on at the Richmond Church of the Brethren. Here you'll find when the church office is open, what nights certain meetings are held, when to show up for the next pot luck meal, and when other big events are happening. You can also view Pastor Matt's calendar to see some of what he's up to, when he's in the office, and when he's out of town.
Now that this new site is up and online we are going to be transitioning from emailing our newsletter to distributing it through our web site. You can view both current and previous issues of our newsletter on the newsletter page, and you can subscribe to the newsletter using the form that's on the left side of every page. If you subscribe you'll automatically recieve an email with a link to the newsletter each month when it's published.
Our dialog and conversations don't have to stop when we can't see each other face-to-face. The conversation area of our site is what is commonly known as a "blog." Here you'll find interesting articles and conversation starters written by the Pastor and others who are a part of the church. You're encouraged to join in these conversations by posting your thoughts, responses, and reflections in the comments section located at the bottom of each page.
Another feature of our new site is that you can easily create an account for yourself. Creating an account will allow you to more easily manage your newsletter subscription, remember your information when posting comments on conversations, allow you to submit special events for the church calendar, and, if you want, help start new conversations for other people to join in on. Creating an account isn't absolutely necessary to do most of these things, but it definitely makes them a lot easier! Click here to create an account.
There is lots of other information on the new site, and you're encouraged to browse around and see what you might learn about our church! If you've got specific feedback or problems with the site you can always contact us.
Since this is part of the conversations section, feel free to give the comments feature a try and tell us what you think of the new site!
Blessings to all,
-Pastor Matt
