From pilgrims and Indians to capitalists and farm workers, Thanksgiving has been fraught with injustice. From the perspective that many of us share (that of victor in these struggles) Thanksgiving can too easily be a time
of blissful celebration. We gather to overeat, enjoy family and
friends, laze around watching football and slip in and out of carb
comas.
Enjoy your loved ones this Thanksgiving. Enjoy the food and fellowship, and well-deserved rest. And if you'd like to celebrate a harvest of justice, check out these resources:
1. NCC resources
At the Lord's
Table: Everyday Thanksgiving is a resource for worship leaders, adult
educators, and teenage youth group leaders. At the Lord's Table
focuses on how our food choices and the type of agriculture we
support reflect our relationship with Creation. This resource
provides sermon starters, liturgies, prayers and youth group ideas.
In addition the Eco-Justice Program has released Sacred
Food, a Sunday School and Group Activity curriculum for elementary
age children.

2.
NFWM resources
Harvest of Justice Table Prayers are available
through the NFWM website. These prayers can be used in your
worship services throughout the Harvest season in your congregations,
bible studies, small groups, or at the dinner table. NFWM is
also encouraging supporters to participate in a tradition of the farm
worker by hosting a sacrificial meal honoring the hands that harvest
our food. More information on how to host a meal, can be found on the
website.

3. MCC resouces
Mennonite Central Committee offers educational resources for immigrants and those of us receiving immigrants into our communities. Email updates, Sunday school curriculum, guides for congregations when ICE conducts raids, and many more resources are available on their website.
